Sourcing. Facts below were taken from each product's own public material, or from named news and institutional reports, and checked on 25 August 2026. Where a product does not publish something — pricing, corpus size, court coverage — this page says it is not published rather than estimating it. Nothing here is a benchmark, a ranking, or a test result. We have not run these tools against each other.
The one question that matters
Whatever you use, ask the same thing of it: where did this citation come from, and can I open it?
Pakistani law is thinly represented in the data that general AI models were trained on. That is why a general-purpose chatbot asked about a point of Pakistani law will often produce a citation that reads perfectly and does not exist — the right-looking reporter, a plausible year, a case that was never decided. The distinguishing feature of a serious legal research tool is not that it sounds confident; it is that every citation traces back to a document you can open. Judge each option below on that.
FAI Legal Research Assistant
What it is. An AI legal research assistant for Pakistani law, built by FAI Productions in Bahawalpur. It answers from an index rather than from model memory.
- Corpus: 43,645 statute sections across 295 acts and ordinances, and 23,343 judgments mirrored from the courts' own published records.
- Courts: Supreme Court of Pakistan, and the Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad High Courts, plus the Federal Shariat Court. The Sindh and Balochistan High Courts are not covered.
- Pricing: Free plan, permanent, 10 questions a month. Professional Rs. 990/month. Premium Rs. 1,485/month with PDF and Word export.
- Citations: marked verified only when the judgment was actually retrieved from the court source; unconfirmed ones are reported as unconfirmed.
Full figures are on the about page, and the head-to-head with the incumbent database is at FAI Legal vs Pakistan Law Site.
DigiLawyer
What it is. An AI legal platform for Pakistani practice, reported as developed by engineers from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore. It is described as offering two assistants: ARK AI, a research associate that answers with source citations, and MIKE AI, a drafting associate for pleadings, applications, replies, notices and contracts.
- Reported adoption: UET's announcement states it is in use by government institutions, the judiciary and law firms. The Sindh High Court Bar Association has separately announced introducing a "DIGI LAWYER" AI platform in collaboration with Codxperts Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
- Corpus: not published. We could find no stated count of judgments or statutes, and no per-court coverage list.
- Pricing: not published on any page we could reach.
- Drafting: this is a capability FAI does not match. FAI produces structured research and argument outlines; it is not a document-drafting product.
Sources: UET announcement · Sindh High Court Bar Association · Minute Mirror. Note there is an unrelated Indian company also called DigiLawyer at digilawyer.ai; it serves Indian jurisdictions and is a different product.
Pakistan Law Site
What it is. The long-established subscription database of reported Pakistani case law. Not an AI product — it advertises no AI features — but it is what most of this market has actually been using.
- Coverage: its site lists ten reporters — PLD, SCMR, CLC, PCrLJ, PTD, PLC, CLD, YLR, MLD and GBLR — plus federal and provincial statutes and more than 1,200 essays and legal documents.
- Depth: substantially deeper reported case law than FAI, including the Sindh and Balochistan High Courts, Azad Kashmir, and service, labour and tax tribunals, going back to the 1940s.
- Pricing: Rs. 9,000 quarterly or Rs. 36,000 annually, each plus a Rs. 2,000 registration fee; USD $700/year international. No free tier advertised.

General chatbots — ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Claude
Excellent general tools, and the wrong instrument for a Pakistani citation. They answer from model memory unless they happen to search, they have no dedicated index of Pakistani statute or precedent, and they will not tell you which parts of an answer they could not verify. Used for structuring an argument you already understand, they are useful. Used to source a citation for a filing, they are the specific risk this whole category exists to remove.
This is not a claim that they are bad models. It is that retrieval beats memory for a jurisdiction with thin training coverage, and none of them retrieve Pakistani primary sources by default.
At a glance
| FAI Legal | DigiLawyer | Pakistan Law Site | |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI answers | Yes | Yes (ARK AI) | None advertised |
| Document drafting | No | Yes (MIKE AI) | No |
| Corpus size published | Yes — 43,645 / 23,343 | Not published | Not published |
| Court coverage published | Yes, incl. gaps | Not published | Reporters listed |
| Pricing published | Yes | Not published | Yes |
| Free access | 10 questions/month, permanent | Not published | None advertised |
The pattern in that table is the honest summary: this market does not publish much. If a tool will not tell you what is in its index or what it costs, that is a reasonable thing to ask its sales team before you rely on it in a filing.
How to test any of them in ten minutes
- Ask about a case you already know. Not a hard one — a familiar one. Then check every citation it returns against the official source.
- Ask for the text of a specific section — say, section 489-F PPC — and compare it word for word with the bare act. Paraphrase is a warning sign.
- Ask about a court it does not cover. A tool that admits the gap is more useful than one that improvises. FAI will say the Sindh and Balochistan High Courts are not in its index.
- Ask something with no good answer. Watch whether it says so.
Run those four tests on FAI for nothing
The Free plan is permanent — ten questions a month, no card, no time limit.
