How FAI Media is made and checked

What FAI Media is, the formats it publishes, how every quote and section is checked against the full judgment or statute text, and how to report a mistake.

What FAI Media is

FAI Media is the free learning section of FAI Legal (failegal.site), a Pakistani legal research and drafting assistant. It explains Pakistani court judgments and laws in plain words, starting from beliefs people often hold about the law, and says what the court actually decided.

Everything here is free to watch and read, with no account. It is published by FAI Legal. Posts also appear on Instagram as @fai_legal.

What you will find

Reels: one minute on one judgment, voiced in Urdu and English, each with a full article in English and Urdu.

Carousels: a few slides on one point of law, with the statute text quoted, for citizens, law students or advocates.

Articles: the short answer first, what the law says, what happened in the case, what the court held, what the judgment does not decide, questions people ask and the sources.

Topics: every reel and carousel on one area of law, such as family, property and inheritance, criminal law, consumer rights and cyber crime.

How we check

Every judgment is read in full before anything is written, including the facts and the final order. The article quotes the court word for word with paragraph numbers.

Before any page is published, an automatic check traces every citation and quote to the full judgment text in the FAI archive, and every quoted section to the statute text in the FAI index. A page with a citation that cannot be found, or a quote in the wrong paragraph, is not published. Lines the check cannot confirm automatically are listed for a lawyer to check by hand.

Each page says what the judgment does not mean, and where the law differs between provinces.

Review by a practising advocate is being set up. Until an advocate has approved a page, it says "Pending advocate review". If the words of an approved page change, it goes back to pending.

Not legal advice

FAI Media is legal information for learning. Every case turns on its own facts. Speak to a qualified lawyer about your own situation.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, write to support@failegal.site with the page address. We check it against the judgment or the statute and correct the page, and the page shows the date it was updated.
