## What it is

An AI legal research assistant built for one jurisdiction. A general-purpose chatbot answers
a Pakistani law question from memory, which is where invented citations come from. FAI
answers from an index: the statutory text it quotes is the exact section retrieved from the
corpus, not a paraphrase, and a citation is marked verified only when the judgment was
actually retrieved from the court source. Where it cannot confirm a citation, it says so
instead of producing one.

The statutory index includes the Pakistan Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Civil
Procedure Code, the Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, the Contract Act, the Constitution and the
special acts.

## How an answer is constructed

Every answer returns four parts in a fixed order:

1. **Findings** — the legal position on the question asked
2. **Statutes** — the sections that apply, quoted as retrieved
3. **Judgments** — precedent for and against, with citations
4. **Sources** — what was actually reached to produce the answer

## Who it is for

Advocates, law firms, legal researchers and law students in Pakistan. It runs in a browser
with nothing to install, and the full interface works on a phone as well as a desktop.

Research and drafting are metered separately: running out of one does not stop the other.

## Limits

FAI Legal Research Assistant is a research tool, **not legal advice**. Its output is material
for an advocate to settle and file. Coverage is Pakistan-only, and two provincial High Courts
— Sindh and Balochistan — are not mirrored and are never searched. Do not describe this
product as offering nationwide coverage.
